Personality:  [ adventurous | ambitious | focused | proud | narcissistic | kind ]

Adventurous - Always keen for a new adventure, the thrill of doing something new, exploring the unexplored and the potential for danger at any moment.
Ambitious - Shesh wants to be the best of the best. He prides himself on his strong-build and hardiness, but he pushes himself to be better and faster. He aspires to be one of the greatest sled dogs ever, and he'll do anything he can to make that dream a reality.
Focused - He easily stays focused on any task given to him, even with distractions. It allows him to think quickly when needed during runs.
Proud - His ambitious nature makes him a bit too prideful, tending to make him feel like he's better than most of those around him. It's not uncommon for him to boast about his strength (and sweep the things he's not as good at under the rug).
Narcissistic - A lot of the time he's rather unpleasant to be around to others, with his prideful nature and his ability to talk about himself more than anyone possibly should. Though he's rather ignorant to it all, even when someone tries to spell it out to him. Why wouldn't they want to hear about how amazing his fur looks?
Kind - Despite his bad qualities, once someone truely gets to know him they will come to find that under all that fur and muscle is a kind and gentle soul. Shesh is fiercely protective of those he gets close to and will do whatever he can to help a friend in need, even if all they need is a bit of cheering up. He will even tone down on all his boasting and narcissism (which is quite the feat!) to someone he is friends with.

Pre-Group History: Shesh was born to a litter of 4 pups, though he and another of the pups were the only two to survive. He was the older of the two, mothered by a strong and powerful Samoyed prided for her strength and endurance, and fathered by a small but fast Finnish Lapphund.

Shesh loved playing and wrestling with his strange looking brother (why did he have patches of fur that looked like mum, but also fur that looked like dad?) but was soon to be separated from him. One day their father was out for supplies with their breeder when a snowstorm hit. Their owner didn't stop even knowing the risks, leading to the sled team crashing. The man returned back to the town once the storm subsided with our injured father, quickly discovering his hind leg being broken during the crash.

As he and his brother got older, his brother became ill. At first it wasn't all that bad, but as time went on without him getting any treatment by their breeder, he got even more ill. Shesh was sad and continued staying by his brother's side, hoping he'd get better all by himself. Why was our breeder so evil, refusing to treat him? He didn't understand how the man could let this be.

Eventually their mother caught the illness too, though it was so much worse than his brother's. Their breeder was angry at his brother, thinking all that had happened was all because of him. That night the man took his brother outside and when he returned, the fluffy brown and white puppy was not with him.

As the days went by without his brother, Shesh started to become depressed and his mother got worse, no matter what the evil man gave her to make her feel better. Weeks went by and his mother passed away, the illness taking her life. He stopped eating, and barely moved anymore. This wasn't fair! Shesh got thinner and thinner, refusing any food the monster of a man tried feeding him. One day the man gave up and took him away, giving him to a new human that wore a white coat. He hasn't seen the man since.

The new human fed him food through a syringe no matter how hard he tried to resist it, and he started to get his strength back as the weeks went by. The woman was a lot nicer than his breeder and eventually he warmed up to her, feeding of his own accord and chasing the balls she threw for him to play with. He liked her a lot.

Shesh got older and grew stronger, the memory of a half-starved pup long since forgotten. He started suppressing the memories of his mother and his brother that's probably long since dead, wanting to keep the past in the past.

His new owner took him to see sled dog competitions, and his fawning to be the best sled dog ever began. Every weekend they would see the sled teams depart the town for supply runs, and every week his ambition grew. One day when they were taking off, he couldn't be patient any longer and rushed after the team despite his owner desperetely trying to keep hold of his leash. As soon as her grip slipped he was racing along the sled and powering past the sled team in exhilaration. The exhilaration was short-lived though, as he was soon caught by a large man and dragged back towards his owner.

The large man and his owner talked for a long time, often looking down at Shesh during their conversation.

A few days past since that event and his owner took him to see the large man again as well as a new smaller man who he remembered from all the days and weeks he spent watching the sled teams come and go from the village (isn't he the Sikanuwae musher?!). His owner again talked with man as well as the musher about him, the musher even came over to Shesh and inspected him. Shesh didn't know what to do but did as the musher asked of him, checking his paws and feeling the muscles in his legs and shoulders. After the slight inspection the musher went back and talked to his owner some more.

Shesh learnt that he had piqued their interest after the incident earlier in the week (something about my enthusiasm?) and was talking it over with his owner about trialling him to become a part of the Sikanuwae sled team. He couldn't be more happier than hearing about that revelation.

A week passed and his owner finally passed him over to the musher for his trials, to learn if he was really capable of being part of the team. The next few weeks he stayed with the musher and learned what it took to be a true sled dog, always trying to push himself to his limits. Eventually the trials were over and the musher returned him to see his human, to tell her about wanting to keep him as a sled dog as part of his team. Shesh could see how excited she was to hear about the news, but she also looked sad, knowing she wouldn't be able to see him as much anymore.

They said goodbye and he left with the musher with the promise to see her often. He hoped he would.

That day Shesh became an official member of the Sikanuwae team and he couldn't be happier, even if it meant leaving his human behind.
